About the Designer

The Creative Director of JANGOAN and Activist for Horn Africa Minority's. Minorities occupational caste groups Madhibaan, Tumal and Yibir. Among other groups, Somalia's ethnic minorities include the Bantu, Benadiri ( or Reer Xamar), as well as the Asharaf and Bravanese, who are based in Soutern Somalia.

Biography

Mohamed Jango’an (Mogadishu, October 4, 1982) is a Dutch fashion designer,dj,record producer, entrepreneur, conceptual artist, political activist, and philosopher. A versatile mind, he is also active in photograpy and film.

Mohamed’s career began at a young age with his role in Vrijmarkt 1997 (warchild movie), a film by Shooting Star Productions directed by hans Hylkema in 1997 for the Dutch broadcaster NCRV. The film received major recognition, winning the NFF Platinum Film (400,000 visitors) at the Netherlands Film Festival, as well as the Golden Calf and the Crystal Bear Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. Experiencing this success at just fourteen years old shaped his passion for storytelling and creativity, eventually opening doors to further roles in dutch television.

Transitioning into fashion and music, Mohamed professionalized his work as a Creative Director, combining tradional East African Culture with a modern Dutch visual Language. His work often reflects a critical view of the social and cultural changes in his homeland. Jango’an draws inspiration from the traditions of the Mahdibaan, Tumal, and Yibir— Communities historically connected to crafts such as leatherwork, traditional medicin, amulet making, and spiritual practices. These roots influence his artistic philosophy and entrepreneurial projects.

As a social critic and activist, Mohamed uses his international platform to speak on issues of human rights, economic exploitation, and environmental, pollution.

In addition to his creative work, Mohamed is founder and Creative Director of JANGOAN, a brand committed to sustainability and cultural storytelling. He also owns Mojo Fashion Agency and Privatelabeling, were he advises, trains, and  coaches in production, purchasing, and marketing for the sustainable clothing industry.

His Philosophy is clear: “Collabrating with reliable suppliers who charge workable prices can go hand in hand with sustainable production. In the clothing and textile industry, you can have a successful and profitable company while ensuring fair working conditions and minimal impact on the environment.”

These are the exclusive brands that Mohamed Jango’an Launched during his first venture as a production manager. In this phase, profit was never the main priority–the focus was on the manifestation of each collection or campaign title, giving him the freedom to fully express his talent as a designer while bringing the identity of each brand to life.

He began with REBELPUNK, followed by ROYALTRASH and Blondiblack,releasing them as exclusive pieces often featuring bold street-style prints. One Striking example was the iconic “Commes des Fuck Down” beanie from his ROYALTRASH collection, which gained major attention when ASAP Rocky wore it in his music video “Goldie.” The design later became so intfluential that the quote and print were purchased by one of his collaborators to launch as an independent clothing label.

Another major succes came with Rebelpunk,which was heavily featured in Travis Scott’s video “Quintana.” where the artist and his crew wore the full collection throughout the entire clip. Many other music videos soon followed, featuring pieces Mohamed released under his brand names.

To distribute these collections, Mohamed founded Mojo Fashion Agency, which sold the exclusive pieces directly to high-end boutiques. One of the most prestigious was Didato, Located in Amsterdam’s P.C. Hooftstraat, Which at the time was one of the most iconic and luxurious fashion stores in the Netherlands. From this position, Mojo Fashion Agency was able to bua strong netweork of high-segment boutiques, allowing for direct sales and personal contact with the top tier of the fashion market.
